The Other Side of Through…

The only way to the other side is through. I take that back. You can jump over the problem, pivot around it, ignore it entirely and for a while that works. You get busy enough that you don’t have to look at it. You land a good project and it falls back. You hire someone and it shifts just enough to feel manageable. But it comes back. It always comes back. Because it isn’t the problem that’s the problem. It’s a pattern that you’ve you built, one reasonable workaround at a time. What you’re experiencing–the mess–is just the result of it. Patterns don’t disappear just because you stop looking at them. They work out because they’re worked through. The creatives who make it to the next level aren’t the ones who figured out how to avoid the thing. They’re the ones who got still enough to finally look at it and take it apart and the good thing is that it was as bad as they thought. The truth, when you finally stop running from it, turns out to be the most useful thing in the room. Because once you can see it clearly, what’s actually not working and what you’ve been tolerating, what the business has been trying to tell you, the path forward is clear. The other side doesn’t mean blowing up your business but creating momentum mid-career requires 3 important shifts. I’ll be talking about them during a Founders Roundtable and Training on September 15th. If you’re truly committed to your next level, I’d love to see you in the room.
